Bernardette Salgado

Born in Miami, Bernardette Kalyan- Salgado grew up with a strong passion for dance and movement that eventually led  to her study of yoga. While teaching at a Reggio inspired school, she began practicing yoga with her students before the academic portion of the day. The result was that the children worked calmer, more analytically and socialized with one another better.

Simultaneously, she was getting her master’s in Non-Profit administration from the University of Miami in the hopes of applying that knowledge to help people in the local community.

Combining her desire to enrich people’s lives with her deep understanding of healthy exercise it was a natural progression for her and Movement Yoga is the result of that fusion.

Reflected in the Movement Yoga classes one can see not only her Yoga training, but also her background in ballet, aerial and modern dance as well as her experience with children’s gymnastics and teaching with the Reggio Emilia philosophy.

Steve Gagnon

Music has been a part of my life for over 4 decades. I stepped onstage when I was 15, and have been active in the music business ever since. I was raised in the New York / New England area, and performed for many years to audiences throughout the Tri state area. I relocated to Florida in the 80’s,and began performing a one man show in the South Florida area for close to 15 years. I started to donate my time to my child’s school to teach an art and music program and found that I had the knack for connecting with and teaching children. I began to develop a curriculum that mixes all of my talents together to bring out the creativity in children in a way that both delights and inspires them. I taught for a year in a private school in Miramar to children from Kindergarden to the 6th grade and it is there where I developed a lot of the ideas and methods that I use today.

I play many instruments…the guitar, the banjo, the ukulele, mandolin, keyboards, percussion, harmonica, even the bagpipes. I also privately teach the guitar, banjo, and ukulele. As a part of my sing-a–longs with the children, I sometimes incorporate a puppet into my performances. I love to get the children involved and it is very fulfilling that I have a chance to give back to the next generation and share what I have learned along the way. I love to bring out the creativity and inspire the soul of the children I perform for. I look forward to entertaining and inspiring your child.
